Philosophy

In common with all other sciences Ethics is studied and expounded by both the ill-equipped and the expert. Only to the few is it given to see beyond the limits of the outlook of their own day, to impress upon the thought of Time the hall-mark of Eternity.

One of the most famous Dialogues of Plato, which has attracted more attention than any other, is that in which he depicts the death of Socrates. There were a few friends present during the day, the evening of which saw his passing, and this Dialogue takes the form of a conversation which took place on that last day.

If study does not lead to the purity of selflessness, there is no real learning. But when there is learning, discipline comes naturally with it. We may take as an example the study of such a subject as the unity of life.

Rudiments of the Perennial Philosophy may be found among the traditional lore of primitive peoples in every region of the world, and in its fully developed forms it has a place in every one of the higher religions.
